Holly - Blue Princess, Ilex x meserveae 'Blue Princess', is a broad, upright, evergreen shrub which eventually matures to 10' to 15' tall by 8' to 10' wide. It features dark purplish stems and glossy, blue-green leaves that have spiny-toothed margins. Tiny, whitish flowers appear in spring and are relatively inconspicuous. Fertilized female flowers give way to abundant, dark red fruit which persists throughout the winter. 'Blue Prince' and 'Blue Princess' need to be planted near each other in order to produce fruit; one 'Blue Prince' will pollinate many female hollies. Blue Princess makes a fantastic, thick hedge, growing to a maximum height of about 15', but can easily be pruned to a lower height. It needs good drainage and a rich, acid soil. Hollies are good companions for rhododendrons and azaleas, and they accept sun or partial shade. Some protection from winter winds and bright winter sun is preferred. Hollies cheer every winter landscape with their dark green leaves and bright red berries. They are truly plants with year-round interest: blooms in the spring, berries in fall, and structure in winter. Hydrangea paniculata ‘Grandiflora’ (PG hydrangea) is a lovely shrub that is very eye catching when in bloom. It has a fairly nice shape and good foliage. However, the large panicles of white flowers are the main attraction. The abundant white blooms cover most of the foliage when they are fully open. shrub 1gal 15.00 20.00 38
shrub 2gal 35.00 7 The Nikko Blue hydrangea plant is a big leaf shrub with large globes of flowers. The flowers will be blue or pink, depending on the pH of the soil. The shrub blooms in June and last for about two months. My fav!
The globes of flowers can reach 9 inches in diameter. The flowers are full and fluffy, and make excellent dried flowers for everlasting arrangements. The foliage is serrated and lustrous. This traditional garden shrub is easy to care for and grows quickly enough to reach its full height in a few years.
Nikko Blue hydrangea can be used in a mass planting or near the foundation. This deciduous shrub also looks nice in a mixed border or as a specimen plant.
It likes partial shade, so it easily fills a spot that may otherwise be difficult to fill. It also looks nice in a large container on the patio.
If you need a plant to bloom beneath trees, this is a good choice. Nikko Blue hydrangea complements white or pink camellias and winter daphne. Cut the fresh flowers for large bouquets.

Mockorange
Blizzard mockorange (Philadelphus “blizzard”)
Bareroot$ $Price Availability
shrub 5gal 20.00 25.00 11
Philadelphus lewisii ‘Blizzard’ (blizzard mockorange) is a great shrub for the northern shade garden. It has attractive foliage, and a nice overall shape, not awkward like other mockoranges can be. It grows about 1.5 metres (5 feet) tall, making it easy to fit into a small backyard. It is extra hardy and can tolerate shade.
The white blossoms of Blizzard are beautiful with a light scent and noticeable yellow stamens. This variety blooms for about 3 weeks in June and July in mosty gardens.
The stems are red with medium green leaves. Blizzard mockorange keeps looking good over the winter, because of these decorative stems.
I would recommend the Philadelphus lewisii ‘Blizzard’, if you are looking for a small to medium shrub that tolerates a cold climate, blooms in medium shade, has decorative winter stems, and exquisite white flowers.

Ninebark

$Price Availability
Shrub small pot 10.00 90
1gal 15.00 2
The foliage of Centre Glow™ ninebark (P.o.’Centre Glow’) begins strikingly similar to Dart’s Gold, but quickly transforms to burgundy from the outside edge of the leaves inward - leaving the characteristic center of the leaf appearing to glow a bright gold. As the plant continues to age through the growing the season, the older leaves are always considerable darker than the newer emerging leaves, leaving the plant with a constantly dynamic, ever-changing appeal. In autumn, the leaves take on an extremely bright scarlet colour, which rivals anything in the current Northern landscape.
This ninebark's new leaves unfurl a golden yellow and then mature to a rosy red-burgundy. Clusters of white blooms accompany the dramatic foliage in early summer, followed by bright red seedheads that fade to tan. 'Center Glow' is a fast grower and an ideal candidate for mixed borders or foundation plantings. It grows to 8 to 10 feet tall and almost as wide. In winter, the older stems have attractive peeling bark.

Diablo Ninebark (Physocarpus Opu. ‘Diablo’)

Shrub small pot 10.00 25
1gal 15.00 5
The ninebark revolution began with the introduction of Diablo ninebark (P.o. ‘Monlo’) in 1999. Diablo gets it’s rather descriptive name from the virtually black leaves. This dark beauty began showing up in gardens throughout North America almost immediately.
Growing easily to a height of 6 to 8 feet tall, its placement in the landscape needs to be greatly considered. However, the strong contrast between the mahogany-purple leaves and the pinkish white flowers creates an ethereal illusion that the flowers are somehow hovering in a void in the garden. This is exceptionally true when this dark ninebark is planted in a semi-shady or cooler-coloured area. Another feature of Diablo is the graceful arching branch characteristic, reminiscent of bridalwreath spirea (Spiraea x vanhouttei), allowing for interesting cut flower branches for interior decorating purposes.

A great new addition to the ninebark family of native shrubs. Coppertina™ ninebark is a new cross between the golden ninebark 'Darks Gold' and the purple leafed ninebark Diabolo ('Monlo').
The result give us a wonderful plant with orange-copper foliage in the spring. As the foliage matures in summer it turns a rich red.
As with other ninebark, it blooms in summer, sporting white button-like blooms which contrast wonderfully with the foliage.
This ninebark is also noted for its attractive pealing bark and bright red seed capsules in autumn.

A real show stopper! Bright pink shoots which open to creamy white and green variegated leaves. Heavy fertilization will maintain it's colour. This shrub can also be trained into a small tree and can usually be found in shrub and tree form. Catkins bloom on the stems of this plant in early April. Grows 12-18" per year.
Gardeners plant the dappled willow because of its beautiful colours. It starts to grow earlier in the spring than other plants, beginning with yellow catkins which appear on the plant in April. The foliage will start out as pink in the spring and then turn to green and creamy white for the summer. In the fall, the leaves turn to yellow and the stems will turn to red in the winter. The branches stay redder when the plant is pruned every year.
The Dappled Willow is a small tree or large shrub suitable for just about any garden! It's foliage creates a starburst of colour all summer long. The bright pink new foliage matures to variegated creamy white and green. The stems then turn to red in winter.

$Price Availability NEW!!
Shrub 2 gal 35.00 5 Enjoy classic lilac fragrance for months instead of weeks! A revolutionary new kind of lilac, Bloomerang blooms in spring and then again throughout the summer. It does go through a rest period in the heat of the summer, then flowers. While traditional lilac varieties bloom for a few short weeks in spring, Bloomerang's fragrant flowers continue until frost. This compact, mounded variety fits easily into any landscape, and is ideal as a foundation planting or as part of the mixed border. You can even include it into perennial beds
The initial bloom is heavy and appears in mid-May. It goes through a rest in June and then begins to rebloom in July and continues on until frost. While the summer and fall panicles are not as large as those in the spring, it puts on a very good show. Every single branch bears flowers (not just an occasional flower). One of the reasons for its propensity to flower is its strong growth. As long as it continues to grow it continues to produce new flowers. You don’t have to prune it get it to rebloom, however, a light shearing after the initial bloom results in a fuller plant with more branches and thus more blooms.

Shrub 2gal 45.00 4
Evergreen foliage emerges tinged with red. Upright habit and late-spring colour!
It may hail from Finland, but this super-hardy shrub is making itself right at home here in the Maritimes. Its large trusses of bright pink, red-orange-speckled, lightly scented blooms appear in late spring, immediately grabbing the attention of every passerby. The flowers emerge from distinctive rose buds that are just a hint of the show to come!
The dense, evergreen foliage emerges tinged with red, maturing to a rich, glossy green. Its multi-stemmed habit takes on a more or less rounded form, and its somewhat course texture means it makes a lovely contrast to plants with finer foliage. With an upright habit and a promise of alluring late-spring colour, this evergreen is sure to become a popular selection for foundation plantings from one side of the country to the other.
'Helsinki University' is a relatively low-maintenance shrub and only needs to be pruned after flowering. It does need well-drained, highly acidic, organic soil and likes plenty of peat moss when it's planted. This rhodo has a low canopy and tends to grow pretty slowly, eventually reaching a width of 3-4' and a height of 4-6.' Treat it well, and this lovely shrub could very well live for 30 years!

Nova Zembla Rhodo.
$Price Availability NEW!!
Shrub 2gal 45.00 3
Nova Zembla rhododendron is so easily grown, it has become a standard choice for planting in less than ideal garden conditions. However, a careful balance of full sun and dappled shade (about 50-50) appears to be critical to a good proportion of leaves to blooms. Deadheading may encourage another period of blooming in late summer or early fall.
"Nova Zembla" means "new land" in Russian, after the island of that name off the northern coast of Russia. Nova Zembla rhododendron develops a stout trunk with thick stems. The bark becomes attractive with scale with age. The blooms are large, sometimes up to 5 inches wide. Flowers late April through May.

Vine 1g 25.00 3
Blue Bird Clematis is an early flowering clematis variety known for its beautiful, lavender-blue flowers. The semi-double flowers are large and open, the result of crossing Clematis alpina with C. macropetala. The four twisted, outer sepals are mauve blue while the inner staminodes are slightly paler, giving the illusion of a blue bird in flight. The nodding flowers are produced in May and June, followed by equally ornamental seed heads that initially have a silky texture. Blue Bird Clematis is a very hardy plant with many possible uses in the landscape including climbing fences and walls or assuming a prostrate position over rocks.

Golden Tiara Clematis Vine (Clematis tangutica 'Golden Tiara')
$Price Availability
Vine 2g 30.00 3
Clematis 'Golden Tiara' is an absolutely fabulous little vine. Clematis is one of about 200 different species that comes from both the Northern and the Southern Hemispheres. They grow in tropical areas at quite high altitudes and are members of the buttercup family. They're also known as Old Man's Beard, because of the greyish plumes that look a bit beard like, and also Virgin's Bower because it's said that Mary and Jesus sheltered under one of these on the flight into Egypt.
Clematis 'Golden Tiara' is a hybrid and it's been in the industry for about four years. It will grow to about three or four metres, so it's perfect for a fence or maybe a small bower or arbour. But also try using it as a ground cover, either down a slope or across the ground. A disadvantage is that you're not able to look into the flowers in the same way as when it's climbing. As with most Clematis it's easy to grow. Plant roots in a cool, shaded position and allow the plant to grow up into the sunlight. The moisture is just perfect for it. It's easy to prune. Cut it back to between 600mm and a metre at the end of summer. It flowers from early June-mid July.
Hardiness: Zones 4a-9b
Blossom colour: bright yellow
Bloom time: early to mid summer!
Size: 12-15' tall
Spread: 2' wide
Sun Exposure: full sun to partial sun
Growth rate: medium

Jackmanii Clematis Vine (Clematis 'Jackmanii')

If you're searching for a prolific, purple-flowering vine to grow on a fence, a trellis or up a lamp post, Jackmanii (Clematis hybrid Jackmanii) just might be the perfect choice. This clematis hybrid adorns the garden with its large, 6- to 8-inch flowers throughout summer and fall. Because Jackmanii blooms on new wood, it must be pruned at just the right time. Otherwise, you risk cutting off the buds, reducing the current season’s flowers.

Ernest Markham Clematis Vine (Clematis 'Ernest Markham')
$Price Availability
Vine 2g 30.00 3
Holder of the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) in recognition of its outstanding excellence, 'Ernest Markham' produces its magenta flowers from mid-summer to mid-autumn. It is best grown in full sun to encourage it to bloom freely and to make sure the stems ripen. As with all the late-flowering clematis, pruning is easy. Simply cut back the stems to a pair of strong buds 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground level before growth begins in early spring. This pruning technique makes late-flowering clematis useful for training into shrubs, trees and climbing roses as the clematis growth is removed each spring and so never becomes too much of a burden on its supporting plant.
Hardiness: Zones 3-9
Blossom colour:Magenta
Bloom time: blooms sparcely June-July and then masses of heavy blooms Aug-Oct!
Size: 8-12' tall
Spread: 3-5' wide
Sun Exposure: full sun to partial sun
Growth rate: fast
Uses: Cover a trellis, post, fence, arbor
Features: colour, hummingbirds, butterflies

Moonlight Hydrangea Vine (Schizophragma 'Moonlight')
$Price Availability
Vine 15.00 sold out Hydrangea vine is similar to the climbing hydrangea. It has self-clinging stems and beautiful large white lacecap flowers in summer. 'Moonlight' has lovely, silvery blue-green leaves that are deeply veined in green. The effect is as if the leaves are bathed in moonlight at all times of the day -- subtle but very beautiful. Excellent to grow up trees and on walls or fences in part sun to part shade.
It can within a few years cover a ten by ten foot area of a wall or length of fence, & over the longer run might spread as high & wide as twenty feet, so that this cultivar gives about half the coverage one might expect from the species. If planted at the base of a tree it will climb right up, clinging fast to the bark, but will do the tree no harm whatsoever.
It's not an overly aggressive vine & will not harm masonry or walls or other plants, yet it is very good at clinging with its own teency tendrils & requires no trellis or bracing. Its size & thickness is easily maintained by pruning late in the winter or early spring.
Height: 35 feet
Spread: 4 feet
Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade to full shade
Foliage: new growth is silvery White, followed by green
Fall Colour: yellow
Flowers: white cluster
Bloom: mid Summer
Hardiness Zone: 5a

Arctic Kiwi vine (Actinidia kolomikta)
Price $ Availibility
pair plant -female=Anna-male=Meander 35.00 12
separately 20.00
(you need 1 male for up to 3 females) I sell both together to ensure you get fruit!
Actinidia kolomikta - the Arctic kiwi - is generally grown as an ornamental climber, which produces beautiful pink and white tipped foliage in early summer. Fruits will only be produced if there are both male and female plants present.
Even if the Hardy Arctic Kiwi didn't produce fruit, you'd want to grow it as a decorative broad-leafed flowering vine that is not troubled by insects or disease, and which can quickly cover a trellis or arbor.
The fragrant flowers resemble clematis and bear heavy clusters of oval lime-sized green fruits that ripen in autumn. The sweetness and juiciness of the fruits is unbelievable - more delicious than the sweetest melon you have ever tasted, and even juicier than the finest quality dessert grape. You'll want to eat most of them fresh off the vine, but fruits can also be used to make pie fillings and jam. They have almost 20 times the vitamin C content of oranges. Unlike the fruits of New Zealand kiwis, which must be peeled, the skin of the Arctic Kiwi is tender and edible, like a cherry or grape.

In the fall, the small, blackish berries are a favored food for birds such as the black-capped Chickadee, bluebird, brown thrasher, mockingbird, nuthatch, robin, and various thrushes, among others. The vine is also used for nesting in the spring and serves as cover all year long.
